Susanne Mi-Son Quester
was born in 1979 in Starnberg, Upper Bavaria. After training as a cellist, she first studied Japanese studies and cultural studies in Berlin, then documentary film directing at Munich University for Television and Film and the Korean National University of Arts in Seoul. Since 2006 she has been working as a writer, director and producer. Her works include films for adults and children, radio features and literary texts. They have been broadcasted and screened in TV, on radio, in cinemas and at international festivals. In 2021, she co-founded the mandarinenfilm production in Heidelberg with Mieko Azuma.
In addition to her work as a filmmaker, Susanne Mi-Son Quester currently teaches videography at the University of Passau and leads film workshops for children at the Münchner Filmwerkstatt. From 2011 to 2015 she worked in the selection committee and in the arte jury of the Duisburger Filmwoche. Since 2015, she has curated the New Asian Cinema series at the Werkstattkino in Munich.
